I have recorded information on all flights I have ever made. I know, it
doesn't sound normal, but that's how I am. My first flight was in 1972, when
I was 22 years old. I was old enough to have such ideas. To be completely
honest, I had by then flown on an half-an-hour joyride over Rome without
writing down airplane model and tail number. It was only when I took my
first flight on a commercial jet that I came up with the idea of keeping a
log of all my flights.
[Almost] useless to say that I keep statistics of airports visited and
airplane models flown. In one occasion, I flew From Rome to London via Paris
for the sole purpose of flying on a De Havilland Comet. I was supposed to fly
back to Rome on the same day, but a schedule problem forced me to spend the
night in London. In another occasion, I flew from Zurich to Paris and back
to use up frequent flyer miles that I would have otherwise lost.
I ask myself why I post these pages on the Internet. I have no explanation
for that. Exibitionism probably plays a role. In any case, I have enjoyed
writing the programs to do it.
